Five and a half years have passed since Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) was founded on February 29, 2004. Closing the first mid-term period in March 2008, the JOGMEC Technology and Research Center (JOGMEC-TRC) obtained the expected results, supported and guided by related people and organizations in various fields.

All the management and staff of JOGMEC-TRC are currently striving to meet your expectations and achieve much improved results based on the second mid-term management plan that was launched in April 2008. We at JOGMEC-TRC endeavor to play a core role in improving development of technology in Japan by coping with significant changes of circumstances involving the oil and gas industry, such as last year’s record-high price of crude oil, the increase in energy consumption in Asia, the progress of natural gas development projects in various areas, and the increasing concern over global warming. We will also make all efforts, more so than in the previous period, to accomplish our goals, e.g., the continuous accumulation of technology, speedy technical support for operations, promotion of collaborative research with oil producing countries, support for new project development, quick technical evaluations, and precise responses to government requests so as to meet the expectations of the oil development industry.

Regarding “Technological Strategy” drawn up by TRC in FY2005, we have added “Environment-conscious Oil and Gas Exploitation field” to the following five fields of prioritized technology in FY2007: Maximizing Oil Recovery, Oil & Gas Reservoir Detection and Characterization, Well Drilling and Field Development, Non-conventional Hydrocarbon Exploitation, and Effective Utilization of Oil and Gas. In the future, we plan to strengthen and improve our services, technology and systems in the six prioritized technological fields.
